Is gear failure related to lube oil quality?

1. Broken teeth: due to various external reasons in gear transmission, one or more gear teeth are broken to make the gear invalid;
2. Wear: in the process of gear transmission, the relative sliding on the tooth surface will cause wear;
3. Pitting corrosion: In the process of gear transmission, the contact stress of each point on the contact surface of the gear changes in a pulsating cycle. After a period of time, a small fatigue crack will be formed due to the fatigue of the metal on the contact surface, and the expansion of the crack will cause the metal to peel off. , forming pitting;
4. Gluing: When the gear is at high speed, heavy load or lubrication failure, the two tooth surfaces directly contact to form a local high temperature, and a large area of adhesion occurs in the contact area, which is gluing.
Reasonable use of lubricating oil can significantly delay or prevent gear failure. Under normal circumstances, wear occurs because the extreme pressure and anti-wear properties of gear lubricants cannot meet the requirements of gear lubrication; pitting corrosion is caused by insufficient lubrication performance of gear oil and poor anti-corrosion performance; broken teeth and gluing are mainly due to gear lubrication Insufficient oil quantity, or poor assembly of the gear after repair, such as tightening the tightening screw too much, or improper adjustment of the gear gap, etc., it is easy to produce broken teeth or gluing, which is not closely related to the quality of the gear oil. Therefore, in the event of gear failure, we must look at the failure form, and then we can determine what is the cause.
